Former NFL Player Interview About Being In The Flow Zone

Here’s a talk we had with Damian Vaughn. A (cool) guy with several years as a proffesional player in NFL (yes Europeans, American football). The first Brazilian player in NFL. Ever. Totally.

He has been the American football face in Brazilian, and he has done work there with Tony Gonzalez to get people to play more American football.

Today Damian is coaching athletes and business people to perform better and keep themselves in the “flow” zone. Meditation is one of his “weapons.”

Meditation is life changing. I do it. And you should do it.

He has a meditation center, The Vaughn Center.
Here’s his personal website

I accept congratulations for pronouncing his name wrong. I’m announcing myself as an idiot for that. It’s not vau-ghn. It’s more like [vaun].

For Non-American native speakers…

What is an internship? A ship inside something (like a submarine)?

It’s a short period of employment. Many students do internships during the summer.

The purpose of internships is not “money getting”. It’s about getting experience and get a taste of your future carreer.

Great way to connect with superstars who can help you further. Relationships are everything in business. Here’s an example:

Under an internship, Lauren talked loud about her business plan.

A guy heard it and he told Marshall Herskovitz, the producer of Blood Diamond (the hit movie).  Herskovitz invested in her start-up company.

Interviewing Author of Guerilla Marketing Goes Green – Shel Horowitz

Shel Horowitz is one of the legendary marketers left. His enthusiasm, charisma, knowledge and positive message is valuable to anyone who want to increase profits ETHICALLY and improve the world.

Mark Joyner, The Godfather of Internet Marketing, said this about Guerilla Marketing Goes Green:

“One of my Joynerisms goes like this: ‘The second best form of marketing is superb customer service. The first is word of mouth. You don’t have one without the other.’ Guerilla Marketing Goes Green shows you step-by-step how to integrate that kind of thinking into your business. It’s not just the right way to do business. It’s the better way. In retrospective, Jay and Shel should have named the book The One and Only Way to Get the Most Profit Possible from Your Business.

This is what Joe Vitale (from “The Secret” movie and author of many self help/marketing books) said about him:

“Shel, you’re a marketing genius. Your marketing book is one of my favorite secret weapons in the fight to get and keep customers. You’re sincere, creative, and persuasive.”

Guestpost From Bestselling Author Debbie Johnson

Here’s an article I got from the bestselling author Debbie Johnson. She wrote the book “Think Yourself Thin” and made a very similar article in the Business Journal (hardcover). The article has never been published since. She couldn’t find the original article, so she rewrote this article only for us! That’s a warm and genuin person.

Think Yourself There; Do Three Impossible Things Before Breakfast on a Zero Budget!

By Debbie Johnson

What’s your greatest wish? If you imagine it with all your senses, work toward it, and never, ever give up, you will achieve it. It’s that simple, believe it or not. But there are some techniques to doing all three.

My book, Think Yourself Thin became a bestseller, even as booklet, though I was told it was impossible by book distributors for the price and format: having no spine. I love a challenge and when told something is impossible, I smile, get going, and make it happen. You can too!

How? By focusing your imagination, which goes well beyond visualization, using all of your senses. Then you will be motivated 24/7, from within.

Here’s an example of what you can do:

Let’s say you want to make ten sales next week.

1. Write your goal. It’s been proven that written goals are accomplished 100 to one over non-written goals. If you’re a spiritual person, turn it over to God. It’s been proven in scientific studies that the most powerful prayer is “Thy will be done.”

2. Imagine yourself celebrating your win. Will you take a friend out to dinner? Buy tickets to a game you love? Go to a play?

Write that down, too. Then turn it over as well.

Now imagine being at dinner, or being at the game or play. How does it look? Smell the food, or the popcorn. How does it feel sitting in that comfy seat? Hear the sounds surrounding you. Do this imaginative technique at least once a day, preferably several times, for at least one month. You’ll have formed a habit by then, creating new neural pathways…positive pathways to success.

3. Now for the action. How many calls do you need to make? Ten calls = three appointments= one sale. So that’s 100 calls next week if you want ten sales.

4. Life happens and it’s not always rosy. Every no is another step to your next “yes.” The bigger your goal, the more subconscious resistance comes up. What to do when not motivated, tired, or depressed: Go back to your key image of celebrating, then imagine yourself energized while on the phone with people on the other end saying, “Wow, what perfect timing…we were just talking about getting one of those!”

Beyond Visualization; Acting As-If

Why does visualization work for some and not for others? Because it is only part of the picture. Those who are successful live it.

For Example:

Arnold Schwarzenegger told Reader’s Digest that when he retired from body building, he decided he would become the #1 box office actor in Hollywood. He already knew how to be successful and used the same principle to become a star. He created a vision and lived it as if it were already real.

____________

From the 1998 Olympics in Japan, downhill skiers: Bronze Medal Winner, Christian Mayer, in the year before the Olympics, had a car accident at 100 mph, healed and was then hit by a truck while on foot, then had a knee injury. Still, he persevered and won a medal!

Silver Medal Winner: Lasse Kjus had to ski with his left arm very limited due to injury.

Gold Medal Winner: Mario Reiter was kicked off the Austrian team because he had too many injuries!

How did these people win? They lived it, breathed it, tasted it 24 hours a day until they won it! They had something the others did not have, focused imagination. You could hear it in all of their media interviews.

____________

Albert Schweitzer said, “The greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering the attitudes of their minds.”

Abraham Lincoln said, “Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then we shall find the way.”

Arthur Ashe said, “Regardless of how you fell inside, always try to look like a winner. Even if you are behind, a sustained look of control and confidence can give you a mental edge that results in victory.”

Albert Einstein said, ” Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

And that’s just the guys whose first names begin with “A” !!!

___________

We have only begun to explore the mind-body connection. Find out how powerful it can be in business, sports or personal success!

Interviewing the Mysterious Millionaire Don Sabatini

Here’s an interview I did with with Don  Sabatini, the founder of SecretEntourage.com – an inspirational site covering secrets to growth and success, business, finance and motivation. They also feature the “Secret Model of The Month”  with over averaged priced sports cars. Look up Secret Entourage on Facebook and join over 160,000 fans.

Don made his first million and owned a Lambourghini before he turned 30. Secret Entourage has launched the book STAY POOR: The Idea of Making Money. Don Sabatini is a pen name, and he’s identity is secret, explaining why it’s a blog interview and not video.

Pleasure to have you here Don. First Don, where do you come from and how did you get to where you are now?

Cause many people say that believing in your goal is the key to success. Since you know how it is to become a millionaire, and you believe it’s achievable… if you lost all connections and capital, and had to start from scratch, how long would it take before you would make, say, a million dollars, and if you don’t mind, how would you do it?

The saying is correct and believing in yourself and your idea is one of the major components of success. If I lost everything today outside of the knowledge I have acquired so far, it would take me about a 2 years to create a million dollars from scratch. The idea of making money is much more driven around your fearless approach to life rather than what you do. Being able to be entrepreneurial without fear of pushing forward towards your vision while leveraging financial tools out there like Real Estate, the Stock Market, and Angel Investing is how you get to the 1 million mark but it is important to never make money the focus or the goal but rather the reward. I do recommend reading STAY POOR: The idea of making money, which really speaks to this question.

Can you tell me 3 secret tips for internet marketers (if you’re not into internet marketing, 3 secrets to build a successful business)?

1. Stick to the vision, regardless of what others tell you. You and only you know what you want your business to become. never allow others to talk you out or away from what you believe yourself to be capable of.
2. Failure is a bigger part of success than you think. Do not measure growth simply by how much money you make. Measure growth by how far you ve come.
3. Hire people that believe in what you do, not people that have great resumes. People that believe in you and/or your business will work towards a common vision/goal and are more accepting of your failures along the way.

What is your biggest mistake on the way?

I dont make mistakes, you simply cant afford to if you want to win. I have had failures which were necessary in order for me to learn and move forward at a faster pace.

Do you have any advice for better and faster results?

As an individual, you can only do so much and be in so many places at the same time; but as a team, sky is the limit. Select the right team and you ll find yourself significantly ahead of schedule.

What drives and motivates you?

Many things motivate me but at this point my motivation is driven by creating a significant legacy through my new venture.

Why is persistence important?

Persistence is not important, it is essential. You cannot win if you give up, and you cannot win if you dont believe in your ability and vision. No matter the business or venture, I can promise you that at some point or another you will run into challenges or obstacles that you never imagined and you will be tested at multiple times in your journey. There will be many opportunities for you to give up but you must persist because at the end of the day you and only you control your outcome.

Thanks to Don Sabatini. Keep coming back for more interviews!
